On 10 July 2019, in Ohrid was held the cross – border event “Creating a common future” in the organization of 9 projects implemented by 30 civil society organizations, beneficiaries of the Grants from the Cross-Border Development Program between the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Albania, financed by the European Union. The event was held with the support of the Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of North Macedonia, the Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of Albania, the Ministries of Local Self-Government of both countries and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania.
The purpose of this event was an initiation of discussion and consideration of the possibilities for the development of tourism and cooperation in the cross-border area between the Republic of North Macedonia and Albania, as well as promotion of the results of 9* projects that are part of the European Union’s Cross-Border Cooperation Programme. Over 150 professionals from the field of tourism, the non-governmental sector, representatives from the municipalities and the business sector, as well as media from both countries, had the opportunity to discuss topics such as tourism and cross-border cooperation between the two countries, and at the same time to get acquainted with the past results and future activities of the 9 projects.
A Conference on the topic “Development of tourism in the cross-border area” followed, on which were held 3 panel discussions on the topics: ‘’ Women entrepreneurs in tourism’’, Sustainability and Tourism – “Together” is key’’ and Dibra – Debar Accelerating Agricultural Growth.
Simultaneously with the panel discussions, in the center of Ohrid was held an open fair of the 9 projects/grant beneficiaries, where on stands, through promotional material, direct meetings with official representatives from the projects and various other contents, all interested individuals had the opportunity to acquire information about the programs and the results of each project, as well as about the possibility for cooperation.
Another highlight of the event was the inauguration of the opening of the rescue (mounting/water) center in Ohrid – first of its kind in the region.
